E-mail Print PDF

This summer, incoming AAS Seniors Susy Rojas and Melanie Manzana, completed a summer internship with the Science and Health Education Partnership at UCSF.  Both students completed research projects under the tutelage and in the labs of some of the most well respected scienctists in the world.  The students then presented posters outlining their projects at the end of the summer, and enjoyed a celebration for their efforts where the Chancellor of UCSF, Susan Desmond-Hellmann was the keynote speaker.

Congrats to both girls an thanks to Amy Trusso for nominating them for the internship.

To check for availability go to the The Math and Science Calendar.

Bookings

1) The math and science departments have a three week booking priority for the space.  All other departments may book at a weeks notice if there is a slot available.

2) Booking is done by either sending an email to Mr. Rowley ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ), stopping by his room (135) or calling him on ext 3135 (Don't assume that by leaving a message on the answering machine that you are booked - he will confirm with you).

3) The certified teacher who makes the booking MUST be with their class at all times in the computer lab. Do not book the lab for another teacher or book the lab for a sub day.

3) You can see an up-to-date calendar by accessing it from the front page of the Academy website (www.sotacad.org) or by clicking on the following link - Math and Science Calendar

4) Failure to follow the procedures below will lead to loss of lab privileges.

Using the Lab

1)To be let into the lab, stop by Room 135 and Mr. Rowley will open the lab door.  If for some reason he is not around you can try Mr. Dallman in Room 103 or Mr. Pritchard in Room 101 for an access key.

2)There are 15 brand new iMac's available plus 10 of the old Pentium 3's.

3) To ensure that our new investment lasts a long time and stays in the pristine condition it currently is in, all teachers MUST complete a seating chart each time they use the lab (if you assign the same computers for every meet then you may just add the date of use to the bottom of your seating plan). This means that any defacement or other issues can be easily traced back to the offending student.

4) A binder will be in the lab with blank seating charts for your use.

5) Absolutely no food or drink is permitted in the lab.

6) The teacher who made the booking must be present during the allotted time.

7) Do not book the lab for a sub day.

8) Make sure all students log out before they leave the lab at the end of class.

9) The lab must be in a clean and tidy condition before releasing students.

10) When leaving make sure the doors are closed properly and locked.
